In his compositions, Daniele (Turin, Italy, 1975) explores the connections between languages and musical systems, between electronics and acoustics, between writing and improvisation. He also practices performance, field-recording, and has composed for numerous theatrical plays and for dance and performance art companies. Particularly in live performance, he devotes special attention to sound spatialization.
Daniele’s music has been played in important theatres and festivals of the European scene, including the Avignon Festival-In, Romaeuropa Festival, La Comédie Française, Manifeste, Opéra de Limoges, Palais de Tokyo, several French Scènes Nationales, Città della Musica in Rome, La Muse en Circuit.
With various travel companions, he co-founded and co-directed the Drifting Orchestra and Esc Orchestra ensembles.
With the Stradivarius label he published the album Duos – Trees Trucks Territories. With the Ameson label he releases the album Animalities in 2023.
As a sound designer (and computer music producer) Daniele has worked for Ircam, and on three commissions for the Opéra de Paris (L. Francesconi: Trompe la Mort; M. Jarrel: Bérénice; M-A. Dalbavie: Le Soulier de Satin).
Passionate about West African music, he plays the Mandingo repertoire (kora and djembe) and has recorded (under the name of D. Segre Amar) 2 CDs of traditional Togolese and Beninese music for the Ocora Radio France label.
Daniele studied composition (diploma at the Montbéliard Conservatory and Sacem first prize), ethnomusicology and musicology (Masters 1 and 2 at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne/GRM, directed by François Picard), jazz (CIM of Paris and Siena Jazz) and taught for 10 years music for multimedia at the University of Montbéliard-Franche-Comté.
